In-Office Zoom Whitening
In-office teeth whitening relies on the use of a powerful whitening gel. This gel is applied to the surfaces of your teeth and activated with a special light, where it works to break up stains, yellowing and discoloration on your tooth enamel. This treatment is very safe. Most patients will experience some level of sensitivity following treatment, but this usually goes away after one to two days. The results from your Zoom whitening treatment are immediate and you will be able to leave our office with a brighter smile that continues to improve for up to 24-48 hours following your treatment.
Your Zoom whitening treatment will consist of four 15 minute sessions. We typically schedule patients for two hours, as it takes some time to cover the gums and lips before placing the bleaching agent on your teeth or to take impressions for custom trays if you are receiving take-home whitening.
Take-Home Zoom Whitening
Like in-office whitening, take-home whitening treatments rely on a powerful whitening gel to improve the appearances of your teeth. However, this type of whitening can be done in the comfort of your own home, and at the convenience of your own schedule. When you receive take-home Zoom whitening, our dentist will provide you with custom-made whitening trays. You will then put the whitening gel into the trays and wear them as directed by our dentist. Over a period of several weeks your teeth will gradually lighten until they reach your desired shade of white.
Keep in mind that teeth whitening, while effective, is not permanent and your teeth will gradually become less bright. In order to maintain the results of your Zoom whitening treatment you should continue to practice good oral hygiene and keep your regular dental appointments with Dr. Lin, as well as return to our office periodically to for additional whitening sessions.
